Our client is a leading global provider of communication and information systems for control centres tasked with safety-critical operations. The company develops and distributes advanced control centre solutions across two core sectors: Air Traffic Management (including civil and military air traffic control as well as air defence) and Public Safety & Transport (supporting police, fire and rescue services, emergency medical response, maritime, and railway operations).

We are currently seeking a Systems and Solutions Architect to join a dynamic, collaborative team leading the advancement of digital tower technologies. This role will play a key part in delivering cutting-edge digital aerodrome services as part of the major upgrades at Canberra and Western Sydney Airports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and design scalable remote digital tower solutions, integrating visualisation, voice communication, flight data, weather, lighting, and sensor systems

  • Define the system blueprint using Frequentis’ MosaiX integration platform and Integrated Controller Working Position (iCWP®)

  • Collaborate with software, hardware, and UI/UX teams to ensure seamless interoperability

  • Lead detailed requirements gathering and interface specifications with Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs)

  • Support the delivery lifecycle, system configuration, testing, certification, and commissioning, for Canberra and Western Sydney remote tower deployments

  • Provide technical guidance, supporting approvals and alignment with Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) regulations

  • Mentor junior engineers and liaise with stakeholders

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent

  • Proven experience in systems architecture, preferably in air traffic management, defence, or aerospace

  • Knowledge of ATC systems (tower control, flight data, voice comms, radar), flight data handling (e.g. smartSTRIPS) and sensor integration (cameras, IR, ADS‑B)

  • Familiarity with microservices/cloud-native architectures

  • Experience guiding systems through safety certification

  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving

  • Proven leadership in technical teams and direct collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
