Our client is a leading global provider of communication and information systems for control centres tasked with safety-critical operations. The company develops and distributes advanced control centre solutions across two core sectors: Air Traffic Management (including civil and military air traffic control as well as air defence) and Public Safety & Transport (supporting police, fire and rescue services, emergency medical response, maritime, and railway operations).

We are currently seeking a Systems Engineer to join a dynamic, collaborative team leading the advancement of digital tower technologies. This role will play a key part in delivering cutting-edge digital aerodrome services as part of the major upgrades at Canberra and Western Sydney Airports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strong technical understanding of Frequentis products and project-specific solutions

  • Perform requirements analysis, engineering design and system specification

  • System installation, deployment, configuration, and integration activities

  • Identify and resolve software integration issues during system setup

  • Create and maintain technical documentation and interface specifications

  • Execute formal testing and acceptance procedures to achieve customer approval

  • Engage with customers to understand operational scenarios and technical requirements

  • Collaborate with internal teams and international partners (e.g. Frequentis HQ in Vienna)

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or equivalent

  • Proven experience in engineering projects, ideally within the Air Traffic Control (ATC) or mission-critical systems domain

  • Strong background in systems engineering across the lifecycle: specification, installation, integration, and testing

  • Knowledge of Voice Communication Systems and ATC functions

  • Experience with safety-critical or government regulated environments (e.g. ASDEFCON contracts)

  • Proficiency in software and communication systems, traceability processes, and test methodologies

  • Excellent customer facing skills with a service oriented mindset

  • Effective communicator with strong attention to detail and problem solving capabilities
